Sudbury Facilities Director Honored at State House with Commonwealth Pride Award

Sandra Duran, Sudbury’s Combined Facilities Director, was among more than one hundred LGBTQ+ leaders honored today at the Massachusetts State House with a Commonwealth Pride Award.

The awards, hosted by the LGBTQ+ Legislative Caucus, celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of LGBTQ+ individuals across the Commonwealth, honoring community leaders spanning public service, advocacy, medicine, education, entrepreneurship, and more. The ceremony was held this morning in the Senate Chamber.

Sudbury’s Departing Superintendent Chosen for Carlisle

Brad Crozier, who served as Sudbury Public Schools’ (SPS) superintendent since 2018 before announcing his departure this past April, has been selected by the Carlisle School Committee to serve as that district’s interim superintendent, according to the Carlisle Mosquito.

Haynes and Nixon Roof Bids Come in Under Budget — Construction Targets This Summer

The long road to replacing the aging roofs at Josiah Haynes and General John Nixon elementary schools has reached a milestone: both projects have completed the public bidding process and the bids came in under budget. Greenwood Industries has been selected as the general contractor for both jobs, according to a memo from Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran.

Town Launches FY28 Budget Working Group; First Meeting Thursday

With Sudbury’s finances balanced for Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) but a possible structural deficit looming on the horizon, the Town is launching a new FY28 Budget Working Group. Its first meeting is Thursday, June 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sudbury Police Station Training Room.

Local Women’s Fund Lands Three-Year Grant from Cummings Foundation

Sudbury residents lead organization awarded up to $75,000 for women and girls across MetroWest

Two Sudbury residents are at the helm of a regional nonprofit that just received a significant vote of confidence from one of Greater Boston’s largest philanthropic foundations.

The Metrowest Women’s Fund (MWF) has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation, renewable annually for up to three years, representing a potential total investment of $75,000. Sudbury residents Rachel Sagan and Diahanne Lucas, leaders in the organization, are helping guide the fund through what they call a transformational investment.

MCRT Ribbon Cutting, Community Ride — June 23

On Tuesday June 23rd a ribbon cutting will signal the official opening of the Sudbury-Hudson section of the Mass Central Rail Trail. For many of us, it has been a long time in the making and we couldn’t be more proud of this great amenity in our town.   Let’s celebrate this exciting milestone with a guided community ride, hosted by the MCRT Alliance, MassTrails 10, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation. This will be an out-and-back ride with 2 options: a 9-mile trek to a unique natural area in Sudbury, and a longer 18-mile ride to downtown Hudson and back for ice cream. Parking Note: No parking is available at the Sudbury Diamond. If Parkinson’s Field parking lot is full, additional parking can be found behind Sudbury Town Hall.
